On June 27th Christiana Fire Company was dispatched to a MVC involving a tractor trailer on I95 near the Del Dot storage area. Engine 12 responded along with Rescue 23 and Ambulance 12 and 23. Units arrived to find a tractor trailer jack knifed with one person trapped inside. Crews work for approx 1 hour to remove the person who was heavily trapped. Patient was transported to Christiana Trauma center. Units remained on the scene for 4 hours.
On June 27th Christiana Fire Company was dispatched to a MVC rollover on the Christiana bypass. Engine 12 arrived to find a car overturned with a person tapped. The person was extricated and transported to Christiana Trauma center. Units operated for 30 minutes.
Christiana Fire Company was alerted to an outside gas leak in the parking lot of the Lowes store in Eden Square Shopping Center. The Duty Chief and Engine 12 arrived to find a propane cylinder that was not properly disposed. A Haz Mat assignment was alerted bring Ladder 12, Engine 15, Haz Mat 30 with Delaware Department of Natural Resources. The fire department stood by while the Haz Mat team burned off the cylinder. All units operated for two hours. Engine 15 cleared and responded to A CPR in Wellington Woods while Engine 12, Engine 32, Ladder 12 and the Duty Chief responded to a dryer on fire in a duplex home. The dryer fire was under control shorty after arrival. Engine 15’s patient was taken to Christiana Trauma center.
On June 25th Engine 6 and Ladder 12 were alerted to a Trailer fire in Delaware City’s local. Ladder 12 arrived to find a house well involved in fire. The home next to the home that was on fire was smoking. Ladder 12 was directed to check that home and confirm everyone was out of the house. Engine 15 arrived and got water on the house that was on fire. Engine 6 arrived and provided a backup line to Engine 15. There were no injuries and units operated for 3 hours.
On June 29th Ladder 12 was alerted for a house on fire in the Windy Hills Section of Newark. Ladder 12 arrived behind Engine 9 and Engine 8. Prior to Ladder12’s arrival a person was rescued from the home by Captain 18 who was nearby when the call was dispatched. Ladder 12’s crew performed searches and ventilation and supported the Engine companies. Units operated for two hours. Unfortunately the person that was rescued succumb to their injuries. The fire is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshal. Ladder 12 operated for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
