The End of Jan - CFC

On January 22nd Ladder 12 was transferred to Station 11 while they operated at a house fire. During the fire there were two maydays one involving a member of Christiana who at the time was working his full time job at Talleyville Fire Company. Two firefighters fell thru a floor at a basement fire. Both firefighters were removed and were treated and released at Wilmington Hospital.
Ladder 12 ran a box alarm in Edgemoor Gardens during the cover up. The Ladder was then moved into the scene and performed overhaul for one hour.
On January 25th Units had a steady night answering 9 runs from 1630 till midnight. Ladder 12 responded to a K9 fallen through the ice in Crofton. Ladder 12’s remove the dog and started transport in the department’s Tahoe to the veterinarian hospital. During the transport the Tahoe was involved in a MVC. Two department members were transported to CER. Sadly the K9 succumb to the drowning.
While units were cleaning up from the Tahoe MVC Christiana was alerted to a MVC at Candlewick Court and Wilton Blvd. Engine 36 and Ladder 12 arrived to find one patient with CPR in progress. The patient was transported to Christiana Trauma center. Units operated for one hour.
On January 26th at 0058 Ladder 12 and Engine 3 responded to a MVC with ejection at Pulaski Hwy and Wilton Blvd. Ambulance 12, Ladder 12 and Medic 2C arrived to find a person severely injured that was ejected from the car. Firefighters and Paramedics treated the patient. The patient was transported to Christiana trauma center where they succumb to the injuries.
On January 27th at 1948 Christiana Fire Company was alerted to a MVC with a car overturned at Pulaski Hwy and East Scotland Drive. Chief 28 arrived to find a car on its side with a person trapped. Rescue /Engine 3, Engine 12, Rescue/Engine 6,Engine 10 and Ladder 12 arrived. The car was stabilized with struts and the roof was removed. In total two patients were transported to Christiana trauma center by Ambulance 15, Ambulance 12 and Medic 6B. Units cleared in 40 minutes.
On January 31st Christiana Fire Company was alerted to a MVC with entrapment and multiple injuries on Pulaski highway at the Glendale connector. The northern paramedic shift commander arrived first and requested Five ambulances and two paramedic units. Engine 12, Rescue /Engine 3 and Engine 6 arrived to find five people trapped in a van. The patients were extricated. In all six patients were transported to Christiana trauma center. Units cleared quickly to respond to the city of Newark for a commercial building fire. While responding to the fire another MVC was alerted on Stanton/Ogletown Rd. Engine 12 was cleared by command in Newark and Rescue /Engine 3 handled the minor MVC after being cleared on the Newark box.
