On September 5th at 0930 hours Christiana Fire Company and the New Castle Dive team was alerted to Woods Rd for a submerged car. Engine 6 and Squad 12 arrived with 12 marine 2 and our Technicians. The car was searched as well as all areas near the car for occupants. No one was found. The police department handled the investigation and Christiana units cleared. Units operated for two hours. While returning from the above call Deputy 12 came upon a MVC with two injures and one car on fire. Ambulance 3, Ambulance 12 and Engine 12 arrived shortly after dispatch. Both ambulances transported to Christiana hospital. Engine 12 extinguished the car fire. Units operated for 40 minutes. On September 5th at 1522 Box alarm 1234 was transmitted for a house on fire in Salem Woods development. While Engine 12, Squad 3 and Deputy Chief 6 were responding the call was upgraded to a working alarm. Christiana units arrived to find smoke coming from the attic. Engine 12 secured a water supply and stretched an attack line to the second floor. Squad 3 arrived and assumed the special service duties. After investigating it was determined fire was in the soffit area of the roof. The area was exposed and the fire was controlled. All searches were negative. The assessment was scaled back to Christiana units Ladder 9 and Engine 7. There were no injuries and units cleared in one hour.
