Christiana Fire Company Recruit School Graduation - Christiana Fire Company

13 Recruits of CFC Graduated from a program that was designed to provide a structured, a disciplined and a guided education into the Delaware Fire Service.
The Executive Staff of CFC recognized the need to retain and educate our staff on a more effective level. The Delaware State Fire School provides training to Fire Service members, however on a “pay for class basis” and on a “seasonal schedule”. The Fire School provides outstanding training courses but it is our job as Fire Service Leaders to prepare CFC Fire fighter and EMTs for the True Realities of the Volunteer Fire Service.
The RECRUIT SCHOOL prepared all Recruits with the expectations and commitments required to become SAFE and competent probationary member. Recruit School also served another purpose; we were able to educate our educators and instruct our instructors or teach or teachers. RECRUIT SCHOOL has defined the ultimate goal of CFC which is Progression within Tradition.
The RECRUIT SCHOOL is taught by Fire Instructors who are certified by the Christiana Fire - Training Division. Topics included an Orientation to the Fire Service and the Christiana Fire Company, Hose and Attack line Operations, Power and Rescue Tool Utilization, Ladder Truck Procedures as well as Rope Rescue and EMS Operations. 88 total hours were committed to the program by the Recruits and their instructors which were performed over a course of 4 weekends. Once the Recruits are complete their probationary requirements, they will have attended around 400 hours of training. This is above the Career Fire Fighter and EMT Academy’s within this area.
At the completion of the RECRUIT SCHOOL, each Recruit has achieved a certificate of graduation. Included in the Certificate is an in depth education to basic Fire and Rescue Techniques, Certifications in CPR/AED, Basic First Aid, Defensive Driving and Training under the National Incident Management System Incident Command and Incident Operation Sections.
