It is with deep sadness that Christiana Fire Company, together with the McCall family, announces the passing of Chief Emeritus Raymond "Jim" McCall early on the morning of Saturday, October 17, 2026.

Jim joined Christiana Fire Company in 1959 and served as Chief for four separate terms, totaling 14 years. He also served the Company as Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief, Assistant Engineer, and Director.

Beyond Christiana, Jim was a respected fire service leader throughout the state and region. He served as President of the New Castle County Volunteer Firefighters Association in 1970 and as President of the Delaware Volunteer Firefighter's Association in 1979.

For decades, Jim was a fixture of our Company. His service was deeply rooted in his love and respect for his family, his community, and the fire service. His fire service legacy and his contributions to Christiana Fire Company will never be forgotten.

Jim leaves behind his loving wife, Pat; his daughters, Vickie (Billy) and Cindy; and his son, Jim (Chrissy).

Services are being planned. Information will be shared with the fire service community through Christiana Fire Company as it becomes available.

The McCall family and Christiana Fire Company thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
