An Extreme Adventure with Extreme Community Impact
April 13, 2015
Over the Edge is a unique fundraising event co-sponsored by the New Castle Co. Fire Service, TD Bank and Brandywine Realty Trust. This second annual fund raising challenge is the first of its kind in the Tri-State area. You will have the opportunity to raise money by "sending" yourself or a friend, a boss, colleague or a family member rappelling 17 stories (222 feet) "Over the Edge" of a building. This event not only raises money but also brings awareness for Special Olympics Delaware.
SODE will be live streaming the event. This means sponsors anywhere in the world can watch YOU go “Over the Edge”. The event is May 14th, 2015. The “Edger’s” are assigned times to repel beginning at 9am and ending at 5pm.
The Christiana Fire Company shines as a leading supporter of Special Olympics. Officers and members have participated in many fund raising and gaming events, giving essential support to the Special Olympic Athletes. Just last month CFC was well represented by two teams in the Special Olympics of DE Dodgeball Madness fund raiser, helping to raise over $15,000. (Picture of the 2 CFC teams below)
Christiana Fire Co.'s leadership in this endeavor has encouraged our brothers and sisters in the Fire service to join in. The New Castle County Fire Service has become a “Presenting Sponsor” for this event. This Sponsorship allows for ALL NCC Fire Companies to be represented and supportive to SODE as one unified body! There will be a booth with representatives of the NCC Fire Service, allowing community awareness of Smoke Detectors, Recruitment, Fund Drive needs, Smart 911 Registrations, and Special Hazard or Service Requirements for Family or Friends within their homes.
