This afternoon (01/01/2025) Christiana Fire Company and automatic aid companies were alerted to fire box 1221. New Castle County’s 911 Center received multiple calls for a fire involving the 1000 block of Woodchuck Place, Bear, Delaware (Fox Run Apartments).

Engine 12, Ladder 12 and Battalion 6 (Chief Cowperthwait) arrived to find a three story multiple dwelling with a wind driven fire involving several apartment homes and the attic. Engine 12 secured a water supply and began fire suppression on the third floor while Ladder 12 initiated the primary searches. Battalion 6 established the “Christiana Command”, and eventually requested a second alarm assignment. Companies were ordered out of the structure momentarily, but were sent back inside shortly thereafter.

Ladder 12 located and removed a semi conscious canine from a third floor apartment during their searches. Christiana BLS ambulances, mutual aid ambulances and New Castle County Paramedics treated 3 adults, 2 pediatric patients and two canines on scene. All patients were transported to appropriate area hospitals for treatment.

We thank our automatic aid companies and other mutual aid companies that responded to assist. New Castle County Police also responded with several officers and assisted with notifying neighboring apartment residents, and assisted with removing animals.
