The beginning of March - Bear

Christiana Fire Company and Medic 2 were alerted to a MVC with a car overturned on Bear Corbit Rd at Norfolk Southern railroad. Command 3, Engine 12 and Rescue Engine 3 arrived to find one minor injury. Ambulance 6 took the patient to Christiana hospital. Units cleared in 15 minutes. On March 1st a box alarm was sounded for smoke coming from a restaurant in the Taylortown section of Bear. Engine 12, Ladder 12 and Deputy Chief 12 arrived to find smoke coming from the front door. Crews got lines in place and found a small kitchen fire. The fire was minor in nature. Command held 12 units and Engine 3. Units cleared in 20 minutes. On March 3rd a box alarm was transmitted for an odor of smoke in a trailer. Engine 12, Rescue /Engine 3, Engine 6 and command 3 arrived investigated. The problem was quickly resolved and the assignment was reduced. As units were racking up the supply line a box alarm was transmitted for smoke coming from the basement in the Rutledge development. Engine 15 had just gone back in quarters from the Trailer box and responded to the basement fire. Engine 15 and Deputy Chief 12 arrived to find a small fire in the basement that was extinguished with pressure water can. Engine 3 and Rescue Engine 12 arrived and assumed 2nd Engine and first special service. The home was searched with negative results and ventilated. Units cleared in 45 minutes. On March 2nd Box alarm 1215 was transmitted bringing E12,E32,E18,E3,E6 Ladder 12,Ladder 28, Rescue 23 and Command 3. Engine 12 arrived established a water supply and found smoke coming from the rear of the home. A line was stretched to the front door and upon investigation the engine found a exterior siding fire. The fire was extinguished and no extension was found to the home. The assignment was reduced to E12,E18,Ladder 12 and Rescue 23. Units remained on the scene for 45 minutes. On March 4th Engine 12 and 3 were alerted to a outside gas leak on Stanton Ogletown Rd. Units arrived to find a strong odor. Units remained in service for 1 hour working in conjunction with Delmarva power to determine the source of the leak and resolve the hazard.
