On December 14th Engine 3 and Rescue/Engine 12 were alerted to a private dwelling fire in Pencader Village off South College Ave. Engine 3 arrived established a water supply and found a fire that was on the rear of the home that had extended to the roof. The crew stretched an attack line and got water on the fire. Rescue /Engine 12 arrived and operated as a Rescue Squad. Ladder 9, Engine 46 acting 9 (Dover FD) operated to make sure there was no extension. Units remained in service for 30 minutes. There were no injuries. Chief Rudd had command. As Engine 3 was arriving at Pencader Village Box 1213 was transmitted for a fire in a private dwelling at 49 Stewart Lane off Old Baltimore Pike. Engine 124 was responding quickly with 4. E32,E23,L28, Rescue /Engine 21 and Command 3 also responded. Engine 124 arrived to find a home well off the highway with limited access well involved. The Engine was unable to access the home and 4 wheel drive units had to be utilized to extinguish the fire. Units operated for two hours. There were no injuries. As Engine 124 arrived at Stewart Lane and third box alarm was transmitted for a gas leak in a commercial building. The assignment consisted of Engine 6,17,18,Ladder 17 and Rescue 15. Rescue /Engine 21 was very close to the box when it was sounded and diverted to this assignment. Units investigated and determined the odor not to be natural gas. Engine 18 and Ladder 17 moved to station 12 to cover up while units operated at Stewart La.
