Busy Day - Christiana

Wednesday, November 23rd was a rainy day that kept Christiana crews busy. The alarms started with a response by Marine 12 to assist Station 23(Minquas) with the rescue of a person in distress from high water. Crews from MRU 12 assisted 23 with the rescue of one subject from high water. While Marine units were clearing last call, CFC was alerted with mutual aide to assist on a residential fire in the Pheasant Lake Town Houses. Command 12, MRU 12, and Rescue Engine 126 arrived to find a gas fed kitchen fire. Crews established a water supply and stretched a handline to control the fire while other members shut down gas to residence so crews could extinguish the fire completely. Searches proved negative and extension was handled. Later in the day CFC was alerted for a vehicle collision on Interstate 95 with a vehicle rolled over. Command 12 and Rescue Engine 126 arrived to find two vehicles off the road down an embankment into a creek. All persons self extricated themselves prior to FD arrival with exception of a small dog locked in a cage. Crew from E126 quickly extricated the dog from the submerged vehicle and turned the dog over to state police. Both drivers were transported to Christiana hospital with NCC Medics.
