Christiana Fire Company sadly announces the passing of Past President & Past Chief Roger L. Barlow on Tuesday December 7, 2010. Roger served as Chief from 1977-1979 and 1985-1988. He served as President from 1981-1984. His obituary appears below: Age 59, of Bear, DE, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010. Born to the late William and Ella Barlow, Roger graduated from Christiana High School. Roger was a lifetime member of the Christiana Fire Company where he held several offices including President and Chief. He worked as a New Castle County Fire Board dispatcher and more recently at the Kutz Nursing Home. Roger was preceded in death by his brother, William, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sally (Stafford) Barlow; children, Wendy R. Barlow and her partner Tracy Paul, and Jacob L. Barlow and his wife Nichole and their children, Jason L. and Isaac L. Barlow; sister, Louise Bell and her husband, Russell; as well as nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 11, at 3 pm, at the McCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike (Rt. 202, S. of Silverside Rd.) Wilmington, DE 19803 where friends are invited to call from 1-3 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made in Roger's memory to the Blood Bank of Delaware and Eastern Shore, 100 Hygeia Dr., Newark, DE 19713.
