Two wrecks and a Fire - Newark

On November 19th Christiana Fire Company was dispatched to a MVC with a entrapment at Stanton Ogletown Rd and Centurian Drive. Engine 12 and EMS arrived to find one confined. The door was removed and the patient was transported to the trauma center. A little after 0100 on November 21st Christiana Fire Company responded to several calls for service. Engine 12 and Engine 3 were clearing a gas leak in a multiple dwelling when a MVC with entrapment was dispatched in the 2800 block of Pulaski highway in Aetna's area. Both Christiana units were directed to respond and arrived with Aetna's units to find a person trapped. The extrication was quickly made and the patient was transported to Christiana trauma center. On November 23rd Christiana was alerted on automatic aid to Aetna for a multiple dwelling fire with a person trapped at the Chelmsford condo's in Ogletowwn. Engine 12 arrived to find fire showing from the rear of the multiple dwelling. The crew secured a water supply and quickly stretched a attack line and knocked down the fire. As units continued to arrive a backup line was stretched and the apartments were searched. The fire was quickly contained. Sadly one occupant succumb to the heat and smoke and was pronounced by the County paramedics. Firefighters remained on the scene for two hours. The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
