Past member of Minquas Fire company of Newport for 23 years, serving as Engine and Rescue Captain. Don is assigned as Engine Captain 12. Don serves on the New Castle County special operations team and now Christiana special operations team. In September of 2013, Don was awarded the Companies "Medal of Valor" for rescuing a trapped occupant from the 3rd floor of thier burning apartment.
