July's Fires

Box 2800 was sounded for a fire in a private dwelling. Engine 12 was the extra engine on the assignment above the normal 3-1-1 response. Engine 22 and Ladder 18 arrived to find a fire showing from the ½ story of a private home. The crew quickly got water on the fire and searches were negative. Engine 12 stood by for 15 minutes before being released by command. Box 2780 was sounded for “House on Fire” in Brennan Estates off Summit Bridge Rd. Engine 1 arrived to find smoke showing from a two story private dwelling. Rescue Engine 12 arrived next and assumed 1st Special Service. Ladders were thrown and a report was given from side C. The crew performed searches on both floors of the home while the crew of Engine 1 extinguished the 1st floor fire. Units operated for one hour.

 

On July 23rd at 0435, the Christiana Fire Company was alerted for a town house on fire. Rescue Engine 12 arrived to find an occupied, one story middle of the row townhouse with smoke showing. RE12 laid out and placed a 1 ¾” line in service. A small fire in the rear of the unit was quickly extinguished. Rescue 23 conducted a search and assist pulling ceiling to check for extension. Fire was confined to utility room in the rear of the unit. Command 6 reported the fire under control and began to clear units within 20 minutes of being alerted. State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

On July 24th Box 1233 was sounded for a fire in a duplex in the Becks Woods development. Engine 12,6 and Ladder 15 arrived to find fire showing from the garage of a duplex. A water supply was established and the fire was quickly knocked down. All searches were negative. Companies overhauled the area and checked for hot spots for an hour. The cause of the fire was accidental. There were no injuries.

 

On July 28th Box 1221 was sounded for a Townhouse on fire. Engine 12 arrived to find smoke inside. The crew investigated the source and found a fire between the first floor and basement of the home. The fire was extinguished. The area was checked for hot spots. Searches were negative. Engine 12, Engine 6,Ladder 15 and Rescue 8 operated.
