House Fire - Newark

On December 9th at 1714 hours a box alarm was sounded for a house on fire in the area of Stewart Lane and Old Baltimore Pike. Engine 126 responded as well as Deputy Chief 6. Engine 12 arrived to find fire showing from a one story private dwelling. The house was at the end of a long lane off Old Baltimore Pike. The crew split laid a supply line from the highway then placed a 1” ¾ handline in service. The crew knocked down 3 rooms of fire. As units arrived a back up line was placed in service and the home was searched. The 1st alarm assignment operated for two hours and thirty minutes performing overhaul. While the first alarm operated at this fire cover companies handled a fire alarm, CO alarm and a box alarm in Newark. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The property was not occupied at the time of the fire. On December 9th a box alarm was sounded for a fire in a private dwelling in the same area as the first house fire. Engine 12 arrived to find two rooms off. The fire was quickly contained and the area was overhauled. Searches proved negative. Units operated for two hours performing overhaul. The fire is under investigation but is suspicious.
