Townhouse Fire - Forest Glen

On 7/29/11 Station 23 (Minquas of Newport) and Christiana Fire Company were alerted to a MVC rollover on I95 NB near Churchmans Road. Engines 12 and 23 arrived to find two trapped. Both crews stabilized the vehicles and removed the patients to waiting EMS. Both patients were transported to Christiana Trauma Center. On July 30th at 1341 hours Engine 12 was alerted to the unit block of Hillside Road in Newark for a private dwelling fire. Ambulance 10 arrived with smoke showing. Engine 12 arrived 2nd. Engine 7 found a stove on fire and quickly reduced the assignment to E7 and E12. Units remained on the scene for 30 minutes clearing smoke. On July 30th at 2019 hours a Box Alarm was transmitted for a dryer fire in the Vinings at Christiana Apts. Engine 3 arrived with smoke showing but held the upgrade. The crew secured a water supply and deployed an attack line. The dryer was removed and there was no extension. The assignment was reduced to Engine 3, Engine 8 and Rescue 23. One person was transported to Christiana Hospital by Medic 2 and Ambulance 6. Units remained on the scene for 1 hour and 30 minutes. On July 30th at 0138 Christiana Fire Company, Engine 10, Engine 15, Ladder 9 were alerted for a Townhouse on fire in the Forest Glen area of Bear. While responding the assignment was upgraded adding one Engine, one Ladder, BLS,ALS and RIT. Deputy 6 arrived with fire showing from the 2nd floor of a town home. Engine 12 arrived with Squad 6. Engine 12 deployed an attack line after establishing a water supply. Squad 6 took the first special service duties. The fire was quickly knocked down and the searches were negative. Engine 15 arrived and provided the backup line. Ladder 9 operated as the 2nd special service. Crews remained on the scene for 3 hours completing overhaul. There were no injuries. The fire was contained to one unit. The fire left four homeless. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
