Driver Training Class and Medic Unit Orientation - Christiana

Thursday, July 2, 2015

Drill night on Wednesday June 29th consisted of driver training and orientation on the New Castle County Paramedic Units. The fire company’s insurance carrier, VFIS conducted a driver training session using a virtual reality simulator hooked to our apparatus. Using this simulator allowed our drivers to use the handling characteristics familiar to them on our apparatus as they went through the different scenarios. The training continues the fire company’s commitment to driver training including mandatory defensive driving classes and yearly driving record checks. The members also oriented on the new paramedic units recently placed in service by the county. A review of the type and location of the equipment was presented.
