Thursday, July 2, 2015

The Christiana Fire Company recently took advantage of training opportunities with the Brandywine Hundred Fire Company and the Minquas Fire Company. Brandywine Hundred and Christiana drilled together on May 11th. The training covered Christiana’s building fire and riding position SOG’s. Crews from both companies worked together on a series of scenarios and practical evolutions reinforcing the different sections of the SOG’s. Attack lines were advanced; ladders were raised and the incident command system was in place. The duty of each riding position was explained and practical evolutions reinforced each position. The training was held at Station 3 on Salem Church Road. The Minquas Fire Company extended an invitation to Christiana to train with them at the Delaware State Fire School Burn Building at the New Castle County Site on May 25th. Live burn evolutions were held and the companies drilled on advancing attack lines and raising ground ladders. Crews were intermingled and worked together as they would on the fire ground.
