National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Memorial Service - Emmitsburg, Maryland

Thursday, July 2, 2015

Members of the Christiana Fire Company attended the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Memorial Service on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Chaplains Art Trout, Dave Horack and Past President Bob Stineman spent the weekend serving as family escorts and in the Honor Guard. They were joined by several members who traveled on Sunday to attend the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. It was a beautiful autumn day, with a clear blue sky and a breeze blowing through the crisp air. It was a very emotional day, as we honored 122 of our Brothers and Sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the Line of Duty. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers were with the family of Michelle Smith, our Sister who died saving the life of a critically injured motorist, and our colleagues from the Delaware City Fire Company. We were honored to stand shoulder to shoulder with firefighters from across our nation to remember those who gave all. They watch over us as we fulfill our mission, the preservation of life and protection of property. May God bless them and give comfort to those left behind to cherish their memory.
