Building Fire

Monday, April 13, 2020

Yesterday the Christiana Fire Company and automatic aid companies were dispatched to Box 1232 for an apartment fire. Christiana resources were on scene clearing a previous incident which delayed their response. Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company Engine 9 entered the complex and completed a forward lay from a nearby hydrant to the fire building. Engine 9 arrived to find a three story occupied apartment building with fire showing from the second floor area of the common stairwell. Engine 9 stretched an attack line and got water on the fire quickly. Shortly after their arrival Tower 12 and Engine 12 arrived. Tower 12 arrived as the first due special service and completed the primary search and opened up for the engine companies. Engine 12 arrived as the second due engine and secured Engine 9’s hydrant to complete the water supply. Engine 12’s crew stretched a second attack line off of Engine 9 to act as the back up line if needed for any fire extension. As many most likely have seen we were fortunate to have some legendary media coverage of this incident found on a fire service page. Although it isn’t our job to judge how professional the coverage was, we do however appreciate how much this group likes to follow us and hope they enjoyed showing the social media world, and themselves, how easily mutual aid companies can act with each other on incidents despite any circumstances. After all we are here for the people we serve, as is every police, fire and EMS organization. #NewCastleCountyFire #ChristianaFire #ForThem #GGB
