3 Alarm Fire

Friday, July 7, 2017

On July 6th, Engine 12 and Ladder 12 were alerted to an outside fire in Saint Andrews Townhouses. While both units were responding, the call was upgraded to a townhouse on fire. A Christiana firefighter and Chief Bailey (27-8) arrived and reported smoke showing from two townhouses. Engine 12 arrived and stretched to the front door of one townhouse. Ladder 12 split into the inside and outside team and started the search. Chief Bailey assumed command. Crews found the fire running up the rear of the townhouse and extending to the roof of two other townhouses. A second alarm was transmitted. As companies arrived hose lines were placed into each of the townhouses. All searches were negative. Companies worked to open up the roof in each home as well as, the attic to place water on the fire. Deputy Chief 6 arrived and assumed command. During the firefight a third alarm was transmitted. Companies operated for 3 hours. One firefighter received a burn and was transported to Christiana trauma center. Thank you to all the companies that worked together to extinguish the fire.
