Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision - Old Cooches Bridge Road & Phoenix Avenue

On September 24, 2009 at 0007 hours, Christiana Fire Company was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision with a rollover at Old Cooches Bridge Road and Phoenix Avenue. BLS ambulances B3 and A12 responded immediately, with New Castle County Paramedic Unit 2 and Paramedic 626, Rescue/Pumper 3-4 and ALS 23. On arrival, B3 reported two vehicles involved with a rollover and entrapment of one victim. Due to the extent of the damage and injuries, the next due rescue company, Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company, was dispatched. One patient was transported to Christiana by A12. The other patient succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics. Rescue/Pumpers 3-4 and 6-6 stood by to provide light support to the New Castle County Police. The last Christiana Fire Company units cleared the scene at 0139 hours. Units responding: B3, A12, A3, 3-4, 6-6, New Castle County Paramedic Units 2 & 6, ALS 23, ALS 17, New Castle County Police, DelDOT, Christiana Fire Police 6-9-A.
