Condo Fire With Burn Injuries - Burn Brae Condominiums

On Tuesday July 14th 2009 at 1656 Hrs Box 1215 was sounded for a multi-residential fire on Highland Blvd in the Burn Brae Condos. Medic 2C, Medic 3C, Ambulances 3 and 18, and Paramedic Sgt 21 were added to the call due to reports of burned citizens. Engine 126 (6 personnel) Ladder 12 (5 personnel) and Chief 12-B (Duty Officer) arrived on scene with a small kitchen fire and two subjects burned. Engine 126 had a hydrant in front of the residence. They secured their own water supply and the crew deployed one hand line to the kitchen. Ladder 12’s interior crew quickly assessed patients while the outside crew placed ground ladders and secured power to the structure. Horizontal ventilation was performed to clear some excess smoke. Chief 12B (Lutz) assumed command. Chief Lutz reduced the box to the 12 units and EMS. Ambulance 3's patient went to CER with Medic 3C while Ambulance 18 transported one patient BLS only to CER. Engine 6, 32, 23 and Ladder 28 were responding but were recalled. Units cleared in about 30 minutes. Photos by Captain Minh Nguyen chauffeur 126.
